Once a longtime department store the renovation and expansion of the downtown space for the Broadway Metro Theatre complex put an emphasis on serving boutique moviegoers in downtown Eugene. A state-of-the-art cinematic experience combined with quality acoustical treatments throughout creates a unique social entertainment experience.
The expansion of the Broadway Metro Theatre increased the theatre’s street front presence and brought more life to downtown. The new lobby is open, welcoming, and plays on old Hollywood themes. Circulation and relaxation are main design features of the lobby space. As opposed to large theater chains that usher you quickly through the lobby to the concessions and to your seat, Broadway Metro has created a space that is more like a bar and restaurant. A place to chat and meet up with people before experiencing the film.
The renovation of the space included integrating a complex structural system to achieve removal of the ground floor to open the basement area for double height theatre spaces. The additional screens have almost doubled the original capacity of the theatre complex. The boutique theatre experience is something that Broadway Metro Theatre has been providing for years, it has been exciting to be a part of their expansion in the downtown corridor.
